Oedipus the King by Sophocles

"Oedipus the King" by Sophocles is a familiar play that I have read in high school. At first reading it, I didn't feel an interest in it. But, further in the story it grew on me. The idea of fate being the ultimate factor in this play gives Oedipus and the rest of the characters to not believe in it. The reason for Oedipus's downfall was because of his own ignorance and his blindness/sight to notice what is literally in front of him, despite what Teirersias and Oracle said. I enjoyed reading this play because idea being blind to what is happening. I recommend this play to anyone that enjoys plays or Sophocles's works.

  1. I am agree with how you analyze Oedipus's failure. And, I think that his parents and him are victims of their fate, since no body mean to cause the tragedy.
